Bike Trip to the Grand Tetons, 1984
These photographs take me through the chilly, high desert landscape of Northern California to Klaamath Falls, Oregon, where, because it was so cold, I rented a car and drove me and my bike to the Oregon coast. I then cycled up the warmer coast to Portland. The Columbia River was my companion for days as I headed east to Idaho. Other great rivers were my companions through Washington, Idaho and Montana—the Snake, Clearwater, Lochsa and Bitterroot. The passes of Montana were formidable. The Grand Tetons remarkable and powerful.
